When Cheryl Stapleton of Learning Through Theatre highlighted that a papercraft Commedia Dell’ Arte Set would make a useful toolset for drama students to learn with, we were excited to help out and grateful for the information Cheryl provided along the way. This popular form of drama usually involves hand-crafted leather masks that can be expensive to make, so this set will enable drama students and departments of all sizes and budgets access to the form without exhausting valuable resources. With the Pantalones of our time cutting off funds to the arts at every opportunity, we hope this proves useful to drama teachers around the world. View the whole collection here.

Wintercroft has provided Arts educators with a fun and safe mask-making tool to use with students whether you are teaching from home, in classrooms or in a hybrid situation. The templates are wonderfully engineered - ingenious actually! Not only can students work on developing their characters for the stage, but Wintercroft has cleverly provided students with an engaging activity that builds literacy skills (by asking students to follow instructions precisely in order to make their masks). I highly recommend purchasing sets of the templates for your students. Very affordable.
Hi Tracy! Fletch here. Than you so much for this amazing review of your experience. It's great to hear from Educators directly that the masks are working well. Let us know if we can help with future projects anytime and have a blast building with the class.
I decided to use your Commedia mask templates because I wanted each student to have their own mask to make them covid safe. Even though they were a bit fiddly and tricky to make, the end result was fabulous! They are very comfortable to wear, and I used a coat of white wood glue on the inside of each mask for extra strength and body. Really happy and have shared on Drama peeps Facebook group's page.
Hi Bev, Fletch from Wintercroft here. Thank you so much for this lovely review. Your mask looks great! Awesome to hear that you and the students enjoyed the project and we are always here to help if you need us. Have a blast on future workshops and hopefully we can all get back on the stage again soon ;)
Amazing templates! Although the time it says on the sheet does not reflect the actual timings - Pantalone and Arlecchino are around 40-45 mins to do and then Il Capitano took around 1 hour 20. Brilliantly durable and clear to make though
Hi Belinda, Thanks for your feedback! I’m pleased that the masks worked well for you, and I’m sorry that they took longer than you expected to build. The times that we use on the front of the templates are an estimate based on an average customer build time. I’ll alter them to reflect your feedback. Thanks for helping us improve the experience for future builders. Kind regards, Steve
My theatre students are having fun but finding it tricky to put together. As of yet, none of my classes have been able to complete one.
Hi Jenine, Fletch from Wintercroft here. Thank you for building our masks and indeed for making them a part of your class. Sorry to hear about the build issues. If there is ever a particular point in a build that you need assistance with, you or your students can reach us on firstname.lastname@example.org any time and we'll always be here to help if you describe the issue or even send a photo through. All the best, Fletch
