Cthulhu

The great sleeper has awakened from the rumbling spires of a sky-flung monolith to the tune of mass hysteria. The black sea of the infinite speaks in midnight tongues that lap upon the shore of mortal sanity, salting the shivering souls of humankind. The age of cosmic indifference is upon us as the horror in clay cracks to life, revealing the gruesome face of our great undoing. The Call of Cthulhu has been answered.

Keep in mind that this is our first Four Star advanced build, so first-time crafters might have their soul swallowed on this six hour build. The beast demands sacrifice, but the effort is worth the reward. Our Full Masks completely encase one human head and can be custom-fitted with the internal headband included in the template. Full Masks vary in build time and complexity - scroll down for further details. You will be amazed by the experience of watching your Mask come together as each component is joined. We hope you enjoy the build as much as the finished Mask.

  • Though sacrifice is unlikely to appease or even register in the consciousness of Cthulhu, you might stand a better chance of survival if you appear an octopus faced offspring to the great usurper from beyond. Bear the form and make pilgrimage to R’lyeh, where you will wallow in weedy shores under the shadows of derelict cyclopean masonry in eternal reverence.

  • Simply print the templates on paper, stick them to card, cut them out, match the numbers and join the tabs together. The Mask is scaled to fit an adult but you can make children's masks by scaling down the templates when you print - check our FAQ page for details. The templates come with instructions for an internal head band that can be adjusted by moving the fixing points to get a snug fit.

    • Supplied as an instant access PDF that you can download and print on any home printer
    • Choose to build with tape or gluing tabs
    • Robust No Poly construction to survive the wildest of parties
    • Ideal for festivals, parties, special events or simply for fun
    • Our No Poly Masks are our latest advancement in Papercraft Mask design. Whilst in keeping with our overall manifesto of helping you to create beautiful and fun things, No Poly is a completely new design-and-build experience for you - a preternatural evolution from the restrictions of Low Poly - that lets us push the boundaries of what can be achieved.

    I wanted to make this

I wanted to make this one as soon as I saw it, but held off a little for some reason. When the news came that school closure was imminent, and tensions at work rose as we tried to console the kids due to take exams this year, I needed some distraction, and indulged myself in this [and the plague doctor] I got it all printed, cut and glued to card [although this takes more time, I find I can massively reduce the number of sheets of card needed by doing this] before school ended, and made it up at the weekend. It's definitely the trickiest of all the Wintercroft pieces I've made to date, the first one that needs many of the pieces to be curved before assembly. I found it difficult to do this smoothly, precisely because of the paper glued onto the card, and also because it's hard to judge just how much curve to put in until you stick it together. The tentacles were much easier than expected, the bit that I found very difficult was the goggle-like eye section, which could have done with more tabs to hold the shape, Much cursing went into that section. I tried taping but it didn't help! After all that, a thin glaze of watered-down PVA gives sheen, strength, heightens the colour, and hides the inevitable [for me] glue smudges and blobs. I wore it to our first department online video meeting, to much amusement. It's a winner!

    Hard-core build

Chutlhu has never looked meaner. Difficult build, but oh so rewarding (the estimated build time could do with some adjustment!). Remember to bend the curved pieces thoroughly before mounting, or the tabs in the tentacles will come under too much stress.

    Wintercroft

Hi Sebastian, Fletch from Wintercroft here. You definitely to the deity by the tentacles with this one. By far our most challenging build, but it is great to hear that you enjoyed it and the time estimate was really difficult to judge on this one (particularly for first time builders) in any case, let us know if we can help anytime and have fun on future builds. All the best, Fletch

    Cthulhu

Trop beau !! Jamais déçu par Wintercroft ! La construction est un peu longue à cause des tentacules mais assez facile.
