Cat Half Mask

39 reviews

The Cat Half Mask enables one to become a skulking, slinking alleyway-strutting feline in no time. If the wild calls suddenly and you need to get something together quick, this is a great option.

Half Masks leave the back of a human head exposed and can be made in less time, using less materials than the Full Masks. All you need is a bit of ribbon or elastic for a headband and you’ll be ready to go for a quick and easy build. The Half Mask is a great option for first-time builders, kids or for when you need a Mask-on-the-go. We hope you enjoy the build as much as the finished Mask.

  • Just add whiskers with a bit of fishing wire or old guitar strings, hop the fence and go prowling for some good company and a tasty midnight snack. Just remember to bring back a treat for the master/mistress of the house (preferably when it has stopped twitching.)

  • Simply print the templates on paper, stick them to card, cut them out, match the numbers and join the tabs together. The Mask is scaled to fit an adult but you can make children's masks by scaling down the templates when you print - check our FAQ page for details. The templates come with instructions for an internal head band that can be adjusted by moving the fixing points to get a snug fit. Some templates are supplied with component colour guides to help you create identifiable markings unique to the Mask.

    • Supplied as an instant access PDF that you can download and print on any home printer
    • Choose to build with tape or gluing tabs
    • Robust polygon construction to survive the wildest of parties
    • Ideal for festivals, parties, special events or simply for fun

These masks are designed to be easily built by anyone, using local materials, removing the need for mass manufacturing or shipping and with the minimum environmental impact.

  • They are supplied along with a set of instructions as a PDF that you download immediately and print on any home printer.
  • They are supplied plain white so that you can decorate the finished mask however you like.
  • You are buying the templates and instructions only. You will also need access to a printer, paper, card, tape, and scissors.
  • The masks are designed to be easy to build: you don't need to be some sort of arts and crafts wizard.

Use this file to make as many masks as you like for yourself but please don’t share or steal the templates as there was a lot of work involved in creating them. If you want to use them for any other reason then please get in touch.

    Many Cats for Many Kids

I have constructed five cat masks so far. Four are shown below. Three of the five were scaled down to 87% and two to 93% to fit child-sized faces. I used different colors of various textured 10-point cover stock I have had sitting around for about 25 years. I took your advice and added whiskers from 0.5mm monofilament fishing line - 10 whiskers per mask - and made cat eyes from some yellow gel material I also happened to have on hand. The vertical slit pupils are made from electrical tape free cut to shape and stuck to the inside. I also added two layers of 1/4" open cell EVA foam to the forehead for comfort and stability and to assure offset from the eye gels. On the smaller masks I altered the shape of the eye openings to get what I thought would be a more classically feline look by making them slope down toward the nose a bit. I have crawled up the learning curve when it comes to assembly, finally getting my technique more or less honed in. I use Fast Stick CA adhesive with an Activator to get an instant set. Spread the adhesive uniformly onto the tab with a toothpick, align the parts, press in place with a tool, and give it a shot of accelerator. These masks are for my two youngest grandchildren and their three cousins - four little girls and one guy who will have to figure out how to be a tomcat. I am loving Wintercroft!

    Great work!

It took a couple of tutorials to really nail how to put this together (meaning the transferring of the template to the card I used) but the instructions were easy to follow and it was a really fun process! The end results are definitely worth it and they look great! Already ordered a second one and can’t wait

    Super easy, made from EVA

Super easy, made from EVA foam, made a small adjustment to the front by the mouth and the ears as I needed a lynx.

    Great fun with kids

I bought the masks to supplement carnival masks for my kids. I used differently colored paper sheets to make a tiger, leopard and cat, all zoomed smaller to fit kid heads (85% was good). Easy to do in about an hour or so.

    Purrfect design

Bought the half cat mask for a friends 30th at the laser tag as the theme was cats. Took me a while to assemble onto card and paper mache my design on but got there in the end. I found that double sided tape worked well to hold it together and the paper mache reinforced the mask. Will be looking to purchase more designs and making more cat masks for fun.
